Chung Foundation was established in memory of our dear Grandpa, on his 100th birthday, 9/9/2018, for his love and generosity to support education all his life! We are committed to continue Grandpa's support to education and UN SDG.
Chung Foundation is a membership based non profit organization dedicated to support education for kids from low income community, through innovation in giving members free gifts donated from growing businesses as their marketing entry and growth strategy to gain brand awareness.

Chung Foundation donated to support a class of 50 kids for 3 years' vocational school education, through our partner who is dedicated to support education by sponsoring kids from rural villages for their vocational school education.

Grandpa Chung became a cashier in China's Central Government after arriving in Nanjing carrying his grandpa's recommendation letter to meet General Cheng Jian (程潜)who got him the position admired by all.
Grandpa's dream was to become a diplomat so he studied very hard and got accepted to National Political University (中央大学)in Chongqing at age 20.
Grandpa Chung came to the US in 1948 as Vice Consul stationed in Houston, and came to San Francisco in 1961 to pursue better education environment for kids, opened Henry's Hunan in 1974. New Yorker reported him in 1976; New York Times claimed Henry's Hunan to be "Hottest Restaurant in the West"; Times reported him in the same issue Deng, Xiaoping was featured! His life is a path from professional diplomat to a world famous chef, successful investor in real estate and stock market, to a philanthropist.
Father of Hybrid Rice, Yuan Nongping, got $100,000 donation from Grandpa Chung in early 1980s, during his most important time in rice research. Grandpa's generosity in supporting agriculture is featured in this story.
A Chinese diplomat originally, Grandpa Chung was passionate about support health and wellness. He was on good terms with Dr. Ho Feng-Shan as the two men's wives were sisters.
Dr Ho Fengshan's wife is Grandpa's wife Grandma's sister. The two famous diplomats are good friends who are both passionate about helping the community. They established Hunan Association in the US and Grandpa was the founding President of Hunan Association.
Yuan Nongping is world's most respected hybrid rice expert. His research was assisted by Grandpa's $100,000 in the early 1980s.
